Article writing has been a little quiet while I (and many others) focus on planning for our October 26 event at the Legislature. New articles are coming next week with fresh information—stay tuned.
Why we moved the date !
Our event was originally set for Saturday, October 25 at 1:00 PM. Since then, the Alberta Prosperity Project announced what they’re billing as “the largest rally in Alberta history,” with estimates ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 attendees. Given that one of our core topics centers on the disabled community, we heard legitimate safety concerns from people planning to attend.
As advocates, we put those we serve first. To minimize risk and avoid unnecessary conflict, we’ve moved our event to Sunday, October 26 at 1:00 PM—same place, same purpose.
We’re here to advocate, not to clash. APP has every right to book the Legislature grounds, just as we do. We don’t play the numbers game; whether 100 people come or 1,000, those are real people with real concerns, ready to listen and be heard.
So What’s Ahead ?
This October 26 gathering is the kick-off to a series of focused town halls over winter and into spring/summer 2026. We’ll dig into:
CDB clawbacks and ADAP
Indigenous rights and discrimination
Policies harming the transgender community
Education system breakdown
Healthcare breakdown
Identification and documentation practices that enable discrimination
Some topics will be combined to keep events accessible and efficient. We’ll share dates and details as they’re finalized.
Fundraising & community support
We’re beginning fundraising to fuel awareness campaigns and support needs-based groups. We operate not-for-profit—every dollar goes back into advocacy and outreach.
Posters, costumes & logistics
Updated event posters are live at BanTheBan.ca (with more site updates rolling out).
We still have Handmaid-style costumes available for $25.
If you’ve sent an e-transfer, we’ll confirm this weekend and arrange delivery or pickup at the event. They also double as timely Halloween costumes.Every dollar from costume sales supports awareness efforts.
Thank you for your continued support—and please help spread the word about the new date and time. Every share, conversation, and small action matters.
— Thank you.
